Description:
This workshop is intended for new and beginner readers. In the class the children will participate in writing lessons presented in fun, but an educational way. Then after the lessons, the kids will engage in writing games. Every class will then include a live story reading followed by a pre recorded puppet show. The story reading and puppet show will include the words that the children practiced that day. The design for the reading and show is to inspire the children to break out their own fertile imagination. After the first four classes, the children will then participate in writing their own original puppet show, to the BEST of their ability. We will encourage them to write/copy a few words if that they have already learned, if that is all they can do, and then draw a detailed picture that they will interpret to an adult educator. They will be allowed to collaborate if they wish. When all of their work is handed in, a puppeteer will then act out the play the children have created, or the children can act it out on their own!
